Everyday devices
Charging, settings, touch gestures, and getting around a phone or tablet.
We help older adults use technology.
And help technology work better for them.
01 / In the classroom
At St. Patrick Senior Center in Detroit, volunteers teach small-group classes and help people practice on their own phones and tablets.
The curriculumCharging, settings, touch gestures, and getting around a phone or tablet.
Calls, messages, photos, and video chats with family and friends.
Patient portals, appointment booking, telehealth, and pharmacy apps.
Suspicious messages, safer passwords, and what to do when something looks wrong.
02 / Beyond the classroom
When people kept getting stuck at the same step, we tried it ourselves. We sent app makers reports describing the task, the step that failed, and what we observed.
A lesson helps the people in the room. A change to the app can also help people who never come to our classes. The aim is to remove the obstacle, so the next person does not need the same help.
