Repetition

Repetition

Insanity is derived from repeating the same actions over and over again expecting different results. How does it make sense? In a normal sense we'd think repetition would reinforce your skills and help you gradually as you learn how to do something, but giving insanity can be proved false. For example, people who chop a lot of onions improve their ability to cut at a quicker speed, people who write a lot gain more styles and techniques, and lastly people who solve lots of math problems can apply it to many other scenarios.

At Riolu, the idea of repetition is what we revolve around. Our teaching methodologies around. The fact of practice makes 'perfect' or improvement can only be achieved after constant reps. When we teach a topic we always try to get them to practice it themselves to drive the understanding home. A simple example would be opening the camera app, taking a photo, and then locating that photo in the gallery: an activity we revisit with our seniors to reinforce their skill and long-term memory.

Think back to the first time you drove a car or hopped on a plane: you were probably nervous. It's in our innate nature to fear the unknown. The same idea applies here on a smaller scale. Many seniors don't rely on the internet and are inexperienced. Our practice-through-repetition approach has definitely begun to boost their confidence and reduce the nervousness that comes with trying something for the first time.

I'll concede that sometimes the quote about doing the same thing and expecting different results applies, but not to learning. Repetition is how we get better.
